Mission View Garden Club of the Mission Valley is a group of men and women hailing from the areas of Polson, Ronan, Pablo, Charlo, Dixon, St. Ignatius, Ravalli and Arlee, who enjoy gardening, sharing garden knowledge, helping our communities and having fun.

Monthly meetings are usually held at the Charlo Senior Center on the fourth Wednesday at 1pm. Every meeting includes a social time and a program promoting interest in gardening and/or floriculture. We participate in area activities, take field trips, do extra workshops, aid in civic beautification projects and hold our annual plant sale in May. For several years, our club float has won first place in the 4th of July parade at Charlo. Pictures of all these activities are shown below.

Membership in the club offers wisdom about gardening, the environment, wildlife, conservation, and the communities of our area. Mission View Garden Club is a common ground for building long-lasting friendships. We invite you to join us at any of our monthly meetings.

The club was founded in 1947. In 1948 it was able to sponsor and build the Charlo Community Park where previously there had been just a slough. The Park is still maintained by our club.

Later, a grant was obtained to landscape with native plants around the entrance to the Bison Range Visitors Center, and in 1971, the club was instrumental in promoting legislation protecting raptors from sport shooting. In 2004, we were able to acquire the then 51 year old Blue Star Memorial marker from the Missoula Club when they installed a new one. It was installed along Highway 93 at Ninepipes Museum on November 11, 2005.

In addition to landscaping and maintaining the Charlo Park and beds at Leon Hall, we do spring plantings and winter decorations at the Post Office in St. Ignatius. The club donates to various civic things and to the three food banks in our area. We sponsor an annual plant sale in May.
