Jumping Juniper Garden Club in Chinook

The Jumping Juniper Garden Club was organized in 1973 and became an affiliated member of the Montana Federation of Garden Clubs in 1974. Club activities vary greatly, from attending the State Convention each year to a gardening-related program at our monthly meetings. We try to rely on the God-given talents of Club members for programs as well as those special talents found in our surrounding community. Our meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month. We currently have 13 members. Our club officers are: President, Vicki Niederegger, Vice President, Linda Haugen, Secretary, Lynne Mahan, Treasurer, Susan Billmayer.

Club members volunteer on several community projects: planting and maintaining Main Street flower barrels, offering adults and youth special-interest programs at our Blaine County Fair as well as judging flowers. We remember the people in the Sweet Nursing Home with a special Birthday party in October and continue to award the Yard of the Week during the summer months. We also sponsor a Junior Gardener program. This year we worked with the students from the green house class at the High School. They started and cared for many of the plants that were planted in the barrels on Main Street.

We encourage you to join us anytime of the year to learn about gardening and find friendship among our members. Please call Vickie Niederegger, 357-2811, for information about our next meeting. You are most welcome!
