Glendive Garden Club
President: Lilla Flesjer, 377-4847, please call or email for membership information. We would love to meet another gardener!
The Glendive Garden Club usually meets the first Friday of the month at a member's home. January is set aside for an informal meeting with a DVD about gardening, or planning ahead for the year. Meeting time is 1:30 PM. We have many events planned for this year which provide a broad range of information to interested gardeners. The programs are planned to expand our knowledge and to help us with our civic endeavors.
The Glendive Garden Club is actively involved in several beautification projects throughout the community. The club was instrumental in establishing the Priscilla Hudson Garden at Lloyd Square Park. Priscilla was a member (and president) of our garden club. She was the driving force behind the idea of this hillside area of the park. In 1967, with the help of the local Jaycees, the garden was born. Additionally, we furnish the plants and maintain seven large planters around the public library, three large planters at a small park over a foot traffic-only bridge spanning the Yellowstone River, and a large brick planter (Glendive Welcomes You) that was built by the City of Glendive and partially funded by a Petal Grant. We also water and maintain a large dinosaur planter at the Eastern Plains Event Center. Another large club effort is our work at the Visitor Center of Makoshika Park where we established a "Gardener's Grove". Green Ash trees and Buffalo Berry bushes are native to the park and so are the wild flowers that we planted around some 50 million year-old rocks that have imbedded seashells.
![]() Recently the members of the Glendive Garden Club were honored by a local civic organization, rewarding each of us with a star pin. The stars symbolize we are stars of the community for our beautification and gardening skills. We all wear our stars proudly. |
