The U. S. Postal Service has issued a book of commemorative stamps featuring pollinators and their favorite flowers. The third annual Pollinator Week will be celebrated June 22-28, 2009. Senator Max Baucus to protect pollinator habitat.

Perennial Plant Association See the 2009 perennial plant of the year -- Hakonechioa macra 'Aureola'', a bright yellow with green striped ornamental grass .It may be used as a ground cover, a border-front specimen, a mass planting, or in a patio container. The plant offers vivid highlights in shaded areas or in evening gardens. It is also noted for its movement in breezes, offering a cascading or an undulating behavior. Hardiness USDA Zones 5-8.
