Colorado Garden Clubs Colorado is one of the 8 states in our regional gardening district (Rocky Mountain Region ). We share some of the same growing conditions. Take a look at what they are doing and growing!

The U. S. Postal Service has issued a book of commemorative stamps featuring pollinators and their favorite flowers. The third annual Pollinator Week will be celebrated June 22-28, 2009. For more information visit the site of The North American Pollinator Protection Campaign or the Pollinator Partnership. A bill has been introduced by Montana's U. S. Senator Max Baucus to protect pollinator habitat.

Perennial Plant Association See the 2009 perennial plant of the year -- Hakonechioa macra 'Aureola'', a bright yellow with green striped ornamental grass .It may be used as a ground cover, a border-front specimen, a mass planting, or in a patio container. The plant offers vivid highlights in shaded areas or in evening gardens. It is also noted for its movement in breezes, offering a cascading or an undulating behavior. Hardiness USDA Zones 5-8.

It also has one of the highest volunteer-to-staff ratios of any botanical garden: Over 90% of the labor is provided by incredible senior, youth and handicapped volunteers.
