“Let’s Grow in Montana”
Our mission statement reads: “Montana Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. provides education, resources and networking opportunities for its members and Montana youth, to promote the love of gardening, floral design, civic and environmental responsibility.”
My theme for the 2017-2019 term “Let’s Grow in Montana” is based on this mission statement. I believe as gardeners and club members we not only grow fruits, vegetables and flowers, but we also continue to grow in our knowledge of all areas of gardening; we grow friendships and support for one another as we meet together and work on projects; we grow in our efforts to improve our communities through beautification projects, educational programs and youth projects, and I hope we can continue to be a relevant organization that grows in membership.
I am continually amazed at the scope of the projects that each garden club undertakes and then keeps maintaining and improving. The scholarships that the various clubs sponsor are tremendous and many young people have been helped with their education by these.
I hope a number of our clubs will seek NGC grants for their community projects under the PLANT AMERICA plan. This is an opportunity for you to benefit from our national organization and to fund your projects. Take advantage of all of the opportunities available at the local, state, regional and national levels to continue to grow in your garden clubs in Montana. If we all use our talents, knowledge and abilities at the level at which we are capable, we will have successful and fulfilling experiences in our clubs and draw others into our clubs.
I am honored to serve as your president for the 2017-2019 term. I look forward to working with all of you.
